I promised I’d give you guys an update as to Gwen’s status with New England Comics. Well, they didn’t call, so I guess she didn’t get the job. It’s entirely possible they simply didn’t need the additional help.
Still, I seem to recall someone here in the Boston area saying their local comic retailer wished that Gwen had applied at his store. Well, now’s your chance.
PAD
Still, seems rather rude to not at least call and say, “We’re not hiring you.”
Better luck next time Gwen!
A good thing to do, when applying for a job, is to call them – don’t wait for them to call you.
Just give them a ring a week later, ask if they had a chance to look over your resume/application, and make sure they know you would like an interview soon, and would love to have the job.
It helps!
i was going to say what Kevin Sole said.
Anyway, Lighten Up, Gwen! And Heads UP !
It Happens, i guess.

You know, Internet Is great; coming to this blog is like wacthing one of this MTV reality shows, * THE DAVIDS * Starring the comic book Fans Favorite Familiy !
Yeah, just less bleeps. 🙂
I heard such sentiment from the owner of Comicopia in Kenmore Sq., which isn’t terribly far from New England Comics – and they are a very cool store. I know I’ve spent enough money there.
Yep, Comicopia’s a cool store. Matt, the owner, was a key associate in the MIT hack on the 1982 Harvard-Yale game that I organized, back when I worked at MIT and he was an undergrad there.
Probably more significantly, he was also an 2002 Eisner judge. If he’s interested, I’d suggest Gwen swing by; it’s very accessible from the Green Line.
Also, near to where Gwen currently lives (unless the apt. didn’t work out) is Comikaze! in Davis Sq. A good store run by good folks.
There’s also the Million Year Picnic, where I shopped for seven years and kicks eight kinds of ášš.
