    I have no way of knowing that for sure. Based purely on guess work: My story is over 10,000 words. At 320 pages it’ll probably be between 80- to 90,000 words total. Does that help?

  6. Ooh, happy day. Too bad the release isn’t until September. But, I get me some more Apropos and that makes me excited. Peter, just to feed your ego (and because it’s true), those are my favorite books ever ever. I hope you can find some way to make more of them someday.

    Luigi Novi: Sure. If that’s an eighth to a ninth of the book, then your story is around 35-40 pages.

  13. Just for fun, I ran a few numbers in the manuscript I turned in… This is all according to Microsoft Word’s count, which has been known to be a bit quirky on occasion. But since I’m not about to hand-count words, that’s what I’m going with.

    Peter’s story is exactly 10.966% of the total manuscript. (Based on 9795 words of Sir Apropos, out of 89318 total words in the anthology.)

    He missed having the longest story in the book by a mere 24 words. Robin Bailey’s story came in at 9819 words.

    And I apologize for the September release date. I wish it was sooner, but DAW had already scheduled my second novel for May, and they didn’t want two books with my name on the cover coming out too close together. ::Bows head in shame::

  15. I have been keeping track of all the hints that you have been dropping on when this book would hit, I cant wait. Sir Apropos is an awesome series and I cant wait to read it!

  16. Not to belittle this event, as I will be buying the first copy I see, the question I have is when can we expect more star trek new frontier? I mean besides the Mirror universe book comming, cause if the mirror universe standards apply, Calhoun is going to be just a total pussy in the other universe…lol

  17. Very glad to hear about the upcoming Apropos story! I got _The Woad to Wuin_ for Christmas – excellent, excellent read. Guess I’m lucky that I haven’t read _Tong Lashing_ – something to help tide me over til September…

  19. Oh, that`s cool.

    In 2004 “Sir Apropos of Nothing” was published in Germany.

    That was it. The two sequal books never were translated.

    But as an old fan of PAD`s books, I have to say:

    Who needs translation? I`ve been reading the “Star Trek: New Frontier” books in English since the German publisher “Heyne” from Munich stopped publishing it in 2001 or 2002. And they are even better in the original.

    So I bought the other 2 “Apropos” books on Amazon and – have to read them some time soon.

    But I`m looking forward for this “Apropos” short story.
