A Cowboy Pete-Styled Obit

This just in: Kim Jong Il watched the season ender of “Dexter” and dropped dead from shock. And really, who could blame him?

Huh. I’d just assumed it was from the shock of hearing that the Redskins actually won a game in a dominating manner this weekend. Ðámņëd near killed me from shock.

  2. Won’t be missed. And his offspring won’t be any better.

Stand back and see what effect this’ll have on South Korea… or the whole region.

    RLR

  3. Good Riddance. But given that madness seems to be hereditary in his family, let’s hope his son his not as crazy as his father or his grandfather.

  4. Kim Jong Il was a huge movie buff (for crappy movies but a buff). So much that he kidnapped korean filmakers and actors to make them work for him (ever saw Pulgasari?)

His apparent heir, Kim Jong-un, is not very well known but one of the few traits that have surfaced is that he collects comic books. Should we start pitching money to pay for PAD’s bodyguard?

  5. Speaking of the Dexter finale, without getting too spoilery, it seemed long overdue.

As for Kim Jong Il, good riddance.

  6. Dexter: Spoilers

I felt the writing really let me down. People had to do dumb things to move the plot along (how many innocent deaths is Dexter responsible for while he plays this game of cat and mouse with his victims, but thats another story). Since when in the Dexter universe do the Miami police wait for him to arrive before investigating a crime scene? never. It was only done so that Dexter could find the painting of himself and a well placed hammer???? Dexter is also smart enough to know that if the crazy religious nut has your waller and home address, it might be a good idea to get your kid out of town. Really, its that easy to kidnap a kid from a play???? Glad Dexter used his invisibility cloak to hide himself, killer and kid from the hotel as he made his way from the roof and back to the car.

Kim Jong – thought for sure he would go out dressed up as a cowboy riding a nuclear bomb.

  7. I wasn’t too happy with the “Big Reveal” of the episode; given the inevitable emotional conflicts that surely must ensue, I can’t see Dexter’s Dark Passenger being able to function uninhibited for a good while. Of course, if next season begins a good stretch of time after the events of this season’s finale, it may be established that things have settled to some degree of acceptance by those involved. In any event, the show’s been renewed for at least two more seasons, so it’ll be interesting to see if the shark sees Fonzie sailing overhead anytime soon.

    1. What I find interesting is that the big reveal of the season finale (and will there be a spoiler-warning discussion of that episode, so we can stop tap-dancing around what it was?) is similar to the end of the first DEXTER novel; I haven’t read the later books, so I don’t know if they went with it or found a way to explain it away.

      1. I was going to make that very point. This ending has been has been part of the Dexter written series from almost the start.
        .
I’d really like to see some of the plotlines from the novel explored (except for the horrible Moloch riff) — especially the stuff with Cody and Astor. You’d think they’d at least get a mention here and there. What kind of jerk is Dexter for not ever seeing his step kids?

      2. Just finished watching this season of “Dexter” last night. While I thought we had some great performances from James Edward Olmos and Colin Hanks, it seemed like Dexter was getting more than a little lost. This may sound awful, but, Dexter losing his son one way or another might be one of the best things for the series.

I’ve listen to, I think, three of the novels, unabridged. Among other things in them, Doaks is still alive (though he probably wishes he weren’t), and the kids in Dexter’s relationship with Rita are starting to follow in his footsteps, referring to their dark passenger as “Shadow-Guy.” (Really? That hasn’t been used as a super-hero name yet?)

I started subscribing to Showtime specifically so I could start watching “Dexter” without having to wait for the DVD set. I’ll keep up with it at least another season.
