We’re going to wind up going to war with Iran.

I’m sorry, it’s inevitable. Yes, granted, the current news is that Trump shut down a strike at Iran in retaliation for their shooting down a drone. So on the surface of it, Trump is hesitant to thrust us into yet another prolonged battle.

But that’s not going to last.

Too many of Trump’s advisors are desperate to have us go to war with Iran, and have been for years. Meanwhile Trump remains besties with Saudi Arabia, another country run by dictators that kill journalists with impunity, and he intends to steam roll over congress in order to sell them missiles by declaring yet another nonexistent emergency. We’ve seen for ourselves that there is no topic upon which Trump cannot change his mind, within days or hours and sometimes even in the same sentence.

And here’s the real killer. Iran asserts that the drone was in their airspace. Once upon a time, we would have assumed that was a lie. But the sight of Colin Powell lying to the American people about WMDs in Iraq is still in our frontal lobes, and instead we find ourselves saying, “Well…maybe they’re telling the truth.” That’s what the age of the GOP has brought us to: We no longer trust the word of those in charge because Bush and Trump have made falsehoods a part of doing business. They’ve made lies routine.

WAG THE DOG. The Daily Show referred to the Iraqi war as “Operation Re-Elect Bush.” Which it really was. History has shown that when the country is in the midst of a war, American voters are reluctant to switch leaders. That is why Bush and company manufactured the “reasons” to attack Iraq, and I am certain that Trump’s people are going to follow the same game plan.

Based purely on the merits, Trump has nothing on which to campaign. But if six months from now we’re in a full blown war with Iran, that may well give him all the cover he needs to coast into a second term. Sooner or later, he’s going to realize that. His people will convince him of it, that war is a necessary evil, and he will go along with it because the fact is that he stands up to no one. He kisses the áššëš of dictators, and collapses whenever anyone puts any pressure on him. That’s why he’s terrified of impeachment. Because it would be the Democrats united to put pressure on him, and whenever that happens, he folds. Always.

WHY IS IT ALWAYS FLORIDA? Trump, who has never stopped running for a second term pretty much from the moment he took office, announced his run for a second term in Orlando earlier this week. What’s interesting is that he learned absolutely nothing from the 2018 election in which he tried to scare everyone about the notion that “furriners” were coming over the Mexican border to kill everyone in America. He attempted to use fear to cover for the fact that he had accomplished pretty much nothing during his first two years and the result was a blue wave that swept the Democrats into the house.

Proving that he learns nothing, Trump offered absolutely nothing new at his Orlando rally. He provided no results, no new ideas, blamed everything on the Democrats in general and Hillary Clinton in particular, and during seventy-five minutes lied at least fifteen times (the New York Times covered it quite well.).

The problem is that Trump has already proven that he is not the President of the United States; he is the President of those people who are already solidly in his camp. His base. He firmly believes that all he has to do is appeal to his base and he can get himself reelected.

And here’s the problem: He may be right.

See, the major problem is that the Democrats are stupid. We have two dozen people running for the presidency. That’s ridiculous. If we had a couple of dozen people running for the Senate, THAT I could get behind. But we simply don’t need two dozen people because voters are going to get distracted and, even more problematic, fractured.

Oooo, Joe Biden, he hugs people in a way that makes them uncomfortable. Can’t vote for him. Oooo, Elizabeth Warren, she believed family history and may have spoken inaccurately about her heritage. Can’t vote for her.

Jesus Christ. Trump boasts about grabbing women by their nethers and has lied over ten thousand times in his first two years. What the holy hëll, people? Trump’s supporters do not abandon him, no matter what he says and what he does. They know he lies. They know he cheats on his wife and pays off pørņ stars to remain silent about it. They just don’t care.

What the bloody hëll is wrong with us? What is it about Democrats that we have to hold our candidates to such high standards that we can’t support them if they screw up? Yes, they’re human; they’re going to say and do stupid things. But no matter what you may dislike about Biden or Warren or whoever else, they’re not narcissistic, they’re not pathological liars, they’re not as bad as Trump because NO ONE IS AS BAD AS TRUMP. Trump is the absolute worst. He sucks up to dictators, he doesn’t believe in climate change, and he profiteers off the Presidency. He is a self-centered áššhølë who doesn’t believe he’s obstructing justice because he believes laws don’t apply to him.

Democrats need to get their acts together, because we may not survive four more years of Trump.
