Dude that’s so awesome! That’s an excellent show! What will it’s ultimate fate be after this season?
I am looking very much forward to watching
Looking forward to it with a bit of melancholy. Always a pleasure to see one of your episodes, but it will bring us that much closer to the end of the series.
JY is the Titans cartoon I wanted for 20 years before being assaulted by the abomination that is rising from its grave to replace YJ.

Glad you got one in before the end; hopefully there will be another opportunity to sell a script to the next superhero show out there. Know if they take spec on SHIELD? Just sayin’…
Great episode. Loved the Wendy Harris reference!
Jason Q – Please clue me in, what is the Wendy Harris reference?
Was that Marina Sirtis voice at the end? I hadn’t seen this series before so I really couldn’t figure what to make of the ep. Kept me entertained for 30 minutes, so that’s a win.
Yes, that was Marina.
PAD
Really enjoyed the episode…nice to see a YJ plan go (fairly) well. I know you wrote the great episode with “Secret”; any other YJ?
Take care,
Glenn
PAD also wrote the episode that introduced Impulse to the show.

This was a really good episode, resolving some things while opening new doors.
I am curious about two things:
1) Has anyone ever determined how fire affects Martians, either on YOUNG JUSTICE or in the comics? In the YJ episode they call fire the Martian’s kryptonite, but it barely slowed him down. Does it kill them, reduce/block their powers, act a psychological scare, or something else? (Though considering the Martian Manhunter was killed by fire in FINAL CRISIS, maybe he had pretty good reason to avoid fire.)
2) What are the upper limits of Zatanna’s powers? Her power is based on saying things backwards (nice language joke, BTW) but she couldn’t separate Blue Beetle from the Reach control by herself. I think (hope) the can’t just say “sedolpxe htrae eth” and it’ll happen — but can she just freeze any characer in the DC Universe?
Or are these two areas governed by what JMS called the “speed of plot” principle, where the rules are defined by whatever the plot needs then to do or fail to do?
1) Depends on the story, but most often I’ve seen it portrayed much the same way as kryptonite. It was later established (by Ostrander? or was it Baron in the late 80’s mini-series?) that the fire weakness was psychosomatic…a callback to bodies burned to stop the spread of the plague that killed the Martians, including J’onn’s wife and daughter and its symbolic link to a Martian deity. This allowed J’onn to “power through” the fire weakness as stories required.
2) Her brief ongoing series, primarily written by Paul Dini, showed that, while Z is powerful, it’s not unlimited. Other stories have hinted that the speaking backwards element is a tool to help her focus on channeling the magic necessary. As far as “sedolpxe htrae eth” level effects, although the heroes Superman assembled to help rebuild Metropolis at one point believe it was Zatanna channeling their willpower to rebuild the city in the blink of an eye, her expenditure of power was used by Satanus to hide his own burst of power to rebuild.
All of that, though, is pre-New 52.
