First we went to Tampa, Florida to attend the Vulcan Events convention down in Florida. Great assortment of guests, and the fans were uniformly friendly and engaging. Sadly it was somewhat underattended, and I feel badly for the fans who didn’t make it there since–as the cliche goes–a good time was had by all.
After that we spent a few days in Orlando communing with the Mouse. We brought our plush Oswald the Lucky Rabbit with us and gave him a grand tour of the place. It could only be considered a triumphant homecoming because of all the Oswald fans–both tourists and Disney employees–who oohed and aahed over him. We’ll be putting up picture of his exploration of the parks over the next few days.

the low attendance may be because of timing.
the Miami con was recently and Megacon is coming up in a few weeks.
Most are going to mega, as they have Shatner, Stan lee and Bruce Boxleitner this year.
Sadly, the low attendance may also be due to the economy. There are lots of comic and sci-fi fans out of work (not to mention a decent amount of store owners), and when you combine registration fees, travel, hotel, and food, it can be too much for some folks right now. (I’ve had to pass on Gaming conventions where I could get free admittance for running events, but still have to pay for all the other expenses.)
Glad to hear you all had a good time. I hope you managed to squeeze the Oscars telecast into your schedule!
I used to live in the Bay area. Did you go to any of the local attractions and sights?
Could be the publicity. I live an hour outside of Tampa and heard absolutely nothing about it before now.
Had I known that this was happening last weekend I would have been there for all 3 days. One of the reasons I go to cons is not for the media guests, but for those who give them the words they mumble on cue, the writers. Authors are what makes the world a better place. It would have been fantastic! to sit down at one of your panels and be entertained by substance rather than fluff. Yea, Megacon has Shatner, Stan-the-Man and The Scarecrow, but Vulkon had you there. Ðámņ sorry I missed out. Glad to see you had fun in O-town at the Mousehouse.
Is that why you didn’t do your Oscar commentary this year?
