Teen Nick is a cable channel that, from 10 PM to 6 AM, runs something called the Splat. On the Splat, they air series that ran in the 1980s and 1990s. Tonight, finally, SPACE CASES shows up. They run the pilot at 10:30 PM and then another episode every two hours. So set your DVRs and tune into the series that Bill Mumy and I created back in the 1990s which featured Jewel Staite as an engineering genius in space. Yes, that’s right, we ripped off Joss Whedon ten years early.

Yes! So awesome to able to see the series on something other than a VHS rip. Hope they show all 26 episodes eventually. ZaBaGaBe!
So far it’s only been scheduled for tonight. I checked the next two weeks and nothing.

Outrageous! Definitely keeping my fingers crossed for more… saw lots of positive buzz on Twitter. One hëll of a way to kick off 2016, that’s for sure! Gonna go throw on Babylon 5 2×14 to prep for Episode two. 8)
I’ve created some high quality stereo mp3s of the opening and closing themes if you’d like to put them on the website… or for anyone to jam to.

Enjoy!
I still remember when Bill wrote the lyrics for the song. Originally it was just going to run over the closing credits and so he just put the names in a random order. But Nick wound up liking it so much that they decided to replace Harlan’s intro with the song. The problem was that the name order didn’t match up to the running order of the credits, aside from Harlan Band leading it off. So Bill had to retool the song to have the names match the introduction order of the credits. That’s why it’s two different songs.

Yay! So great to hear the theme song again, and the series holds up surprisingly well even after all this time. So sweet to see The Bear again.
As for you ripping off Joss Whedon ten years early, you mean like how Neil Gaiman ripped off J. K. Rowling?
Yay!
I think there might be some episodes on youtube, they might be still up there. I haven’t looked lately.
I just got done scrolling through the twitter search of it. Someone wished for a JJ Abrams reboot of the show.
How do you think that would hypothetically go?
Just finished watching the four episodes that aired. That cast is almost completely solid. I especially enjoy Anik Matern; she kills with Thelma!
I’d buy the series if it were available somewhere legally.
Seriously, man! It only gets better in Season 2. The episode where they all switch races is just fantastic. I advise everyone send emails to contact@thesplat.com and suggest they air more Space Cases. This was the response I got:
“Hi!
Thank you for contacting us. We appreciate any and all feedback, and we will take
your suggestions under advisement.
Have a great day!”
It’s worth a shot!
